Urban BuildCo was founded to specialise in small prefabricated homes, but the world had other plans for our company. So here we are today, specialising in new home builds, ribraft flooring, foundation work/concrete, and, most recently, floor polishing.

ADAM SMITH
Owner, DirectorAfter growing up in Hawkes Bay, Adam moved to New Plymouth after finishing school to beginhis building apprenticeship. Fast-forward a few years, and Adam is a qualified carpenter. He soon began making a name forhimself, known for his quality craftsmanship, leadership, and extensive knowledge of new buildsand foundation work. Adam began the self-employment journey with an ever-growing workload inthe Taranaki region.
JAMES
CarpenterJames, whose building journey began at G and H Trade Training Centre, completed a pre-tradecourse before beginning his apprenticeship at Mackesey’s Construction in Hawkes Bay. Aftercontributing to the Christchurch rebuild, specialising in releveling houses, renovations, and newbuilds, he joined Urban in Taranaki in 2020. Under Urban's meticulous focus on details, Jamesmanages day-to-day site operations, ensuring high craftsmanship and work quality.
JOSHUA
CarpenterJosh, originally from Nelson and currently residing in New Plymouth with his partner and threeyoung boys, began his career as a trade assistant in Melbourne.Developing a keen interest in carpentry, Josh moved to Taranaki in 2017, where he started hisapprenticeship with Urban Prefab. Having successfully completed his apprenticeship, Joshapproaches the industry's daily challenges with enthusiasm and expertise.
CAM
ContractorCam, an experienced professional in the building industry, resides locally with his wife and youngchildren. Serving as Urban's contract builder for an extended period, he finds fulfilment in working alongsidea skilled team, often taking on mentoring and leadership roles. Cam is passionate about theteam's collaborative effort to produce quality work.
KEANU
ApprenticeKeanu started his apprenticeship halfway through 2023 when he began working for Urban. Havingpreviously worked as a building labourer, Keanu has made the leap into the building trade and islooking forward to becoming a qualified carpenter. "I’m always trying to soak in as muchknowledge as I can to do better and progress my skill level within the trade.
ADAM K
LabourerAdam worked in various trades, including 6 years as a brick and blocklayer, before joining TeamUrban. "I love the variety of jobs within Urban, including the opportunity to still lay blocks and workingwith fantastic people”.
CERISE
Administrator & AccountsCerise, a qualified teacher turned stay-at-home mom, collaborated with Adam for Urban. As thecurrent Account and Administration and Compliance Manager, she appreciates working for acompany dedicated to quality work and fueled by passion.
